This was the television schedule on all three United States commercial television networks for the fall season beginning in September 1975. All times are Eastern and Pacific, with a few exceptions, such as Monday Night Football. This was the first season since 1971 in which a four-hour Sunday night schedule was implemented.
New fall series are highlighted in bold. Series ending their original runs are in italics.
The highest-rated show for the year is colored in lime. The top ten highest-rated shows are colored in yellow. The top 20 highest-rated shows are colored in cyan. The top 30 most-watched programs are colored in magenta.
PBS, the Public Broadcasting Service, was in operation, but the schedule was set by each local station.
Note: On ABC, the miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man (#2, 28.0 rating) took the 10:00 time slot after the end of the 1975 NFL season from February 2 through March 12. It premiered its first two installments on February 1, 1976.
Note: On ABC, Welcome Back, Kotter moved to Thursdays in January to replace On the Rocks, forcing the latter to move to Mondays to replace Barbary Coast. Laverne & Shirley, (#3, 27.5 rating), filled the 8:30 time slot when it premiered on January 27. On CBS, One Day at a Time,(#12, 23.1 rating) premiered in the 9:30 time slot in December.
There are a number of other programs (such as Space: 1999, King of Kensington, Funny Farm and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman) that premiered this season without being picked up by the major networks.
